2014 The Honor Bowl NorCal Team Breakdowns

The Honor Bowl is returning to Northern California and will be held at Del Oro HS in Loomis, CA.

Elk Grove CA vs. Damonte Ranch, NV
Football in Elk Grove is huge! The community supports the program and Head Coach Chris Nixon know this. Winning is a tradition for the Thundering herd where the ’13 team were co-champs in the tough Delta Valley conference and played a nail biter in the D1 CIF Sac Joaquin finals only to lose 20-19 in a comeback win by State bound Del Oro. The Damonte Ranch Mustangs of Reno, NV are led by third year Head Coach Shawn Dupris. The Mustangs made it to the second round of the Nevada State NAIA playoffs. This opening game of The Honor Bowl will be a great matchup.

Del Oro CA vs. Kamehameha, HI:
The Friday Finale for The Honor Bowl will be an epic matchup with Kamehameha traveling from Honolulu, HI to take on State finalist Del Oro Golden Eagles of Loomis. Kevin O’Brien’s Warriors have experienced Cali football three times but this is the first trip to face up against a NorCal powerhouse. Del Oro is fresh off a League championship, CIF D1 Section banner and a second trip to Carson for the State CIF D1 game. Head Coach Casey Taylor has a knack to not dwell on the parting seniors but to build with a deep program with both JV and Freshmen going undefeated.

Clovis North CA vs. Reed NV
Reed HS comes to Loomis from Sparks NV and is led by Head Coach Ernie Howren. The Raiders have faced 7 CA teams and are used to travelling for a good game. The Raiders were co-champions in the I Northern High Desert League and played in the NIAA DI State game losing to national powerhouse Bishop Gorman. Reed is excited to play in The Honor Bowl and to show NorCal what Raider football is all about. Clovis North located in Fresno, CA is led by Head Coach Cory Hall. The Broncos were co=champions of the Tri-River League and got to the final round of the DI Central section finals losing to the eventual California State DI Champion team of Bakersfield. This will be High Country vs Central Cali football.

Cardinal Newman CA vs. Churchill County, NV: The Cardinal Newman Cardinals travel from Santa Rosa and are led by Head Coach Paul Cronin where they had another successful season going to the DIII North Coast playoffs again. Since 2004 the Cardinals have a combined record of 103-25-2. Cardinal Newman will field a good team only losing 12 seniors in 2013. Churchill County of Fallon NV are led by Head Coach Brooke Hill. The Greenwaves were a finalist in the Nevada NIAA section playoffs and also will graduate 12 seniors.

Clayton Valley vs. Carson, NV:
The finale is one not to miss. Clayton Valley Charter travels from the SF Bay area and are led by Head Coach Tim Murphy. The Ugly Eagles finished 2013 11-2 and got to the third round of the North Coast DII playoffs. This will be the first time Clayton Valley will face up against an out of state opponent. The Carson HS Senators are led by Head coach Blair Roman and were Sierra league champions. Carson is a regular in the NIAA Northern Region playoffs and will work hard to make this finale game of the NorCal Honor Bowl a memorable one.
