Downey (Downey, CA) vs Red Mountain (Mesa, AZ)

The second game of the 2024 Arizona Honor Bowl will be the home game of Host Red Mountain matched up to play the Downey Vikings traveling in from Southern California.

This will be the first time that the Vikings will be part of an Honor Bowl and are thrilled to also be able to be part of the first Arizona Honor Bowl. Junior QB Oscar Rios will lead his offense where in his last season passed for 2633 yards with 23 TDs. Rios also had 767 rushing yards with 7 more TDs. Junior RB Xavier ‘X’ Rivas will be counted on to contribute yards on the ground as well as with receptions. Sophomore WR Damani Porras had a productive freshman season with 453 receiving yards and 5 TDs. Defensively, Junior OLB Oscar Aguilar had 80 total tackles. Junior LB Aidan Gomez will crowd the holes as well.

The Red Mountain Mountain Lions will participate in the third back-to-back Honor Bowl – this time hosting at their stadium! Senior QB Simon Lopez will lead his offense again where in 2023 amassed 1817 passing yards with 15 TDs. Lopez also had 482 rushing yards and 11 TDs. Senior WR Bode Wagner will be a familiar target where he had 770 receiving yards and 10 TDs. Defensively Junior MLB Jameson Wade had 84 total tackles in 2023.
